F5 keyHow many times have I faced this same dilemma myself? Here’s the scenario. You’ve just completed some kind of marketing (article, landing page, blog post, etc) and you’re sitting in front of your (CJ, clickbank, adsense) page and hitting refresh.

No change. You hit refresh again.

Your balance has been sitting at $3.48 for hours now, and you’re stuck in a loop. You want that hard work you did to pay off, and you can’t help but hit refresh again and again hoping for change.

You hit refresh again. $3.48.

This is the bane of all internet marketers. We’ve heard all about "making money while we sleep" but who can sleep when you’re worried about your newest promo, or waiting to see if your new adwords campaign is going to be profitable.

Stop.

It’s not going to do you any good. If you’re testing a promo, just put an end date, or a small budget on it, and go do something productive with your time. Write an article and submit to ezinearticles. Post on your blog. Go out and try to remember what it feels like not to have a computer screen in front of your face.

Any way you look at it, you know what doesn’t do your current marketing efforts any good?

[Refresh] $3.48

Try this. Next time you hit refresh on your balance page more than once within 10 minutes, stop. Make it a point to go out and find a new idea. Check out other sites in your niche. What are they doing that you’re not? What problems are they talking about that you could solve. Brainstorm. If you take the opportunity every time you get stuck in "F5 OCD" to find one new idea, I guarantee you’ll make more money than if you just sat there hitting refresh.

[Refresh] $3.48

Quit it! I’m serious. Go out there and come up with a new idea. What are you going to achieve sitting there? Even if your balance does go up, do you think it’s because you sat there hitting F5? How much better will it feel when you’ve been working all day promoting your new site, or developing a new product, to go back to your balance page 8 hours later to find it’s increased $150 because of all the effort you put into marketing it all day?
