I didn’t plan to buy Build a Niche Store (from here on "BANS").  But I was feeling spendy one day, after another internet marketing venture paid off for me.  I knew there was money to be made as an eBay affiliate, but the process of constantly updating my site with new items was becoming tedious.  I only had the time to put into that one site, and needed a way to automate it.

Enter BANS. The process looked fairly straight forward:

  • Find a niche
  • Find the corresponding eBay category
  • Drop the category number in to the script

Boom. Now you’ve got a niche store.

Is it really that simple? No. Not if you want to make real money. You still need to generate traffic to the site, and that’s not the easiest task in the world. But if you pick the right niche, you can buy PPC long-tail keywords cheap enough to make it pay off.

So what does BANS look like once it’s up and running? The install process is actually really simple. Upload the files, create a database (your hosting company can take care of this), run the installer, and fill out the setup page (affiliate ID, ebay category, etc).

The new version of BANS (2.0, and you get free upgrades forever), actually populates the sub-categories for you. You pick an eBay category, and it will make store pages for each sub-category.  That’s it. You can create all sorts of content, and tweak the look and feel all you want, but really, at this point, you’re done. You can drive traffic to your site and watch the money roll in.

So far I’ve made over $400 this month alone, with my 4 BANS sites. That’s outstanding considering I’ve spent less than $150 on advertising. This chart is for the dates August 19 through September 19.

So is it worth it? Hell yes! BUT, if you haven’t bought BANS yet, there’s another solution you might want to have a look at. It’s called phpBay Pro. It’s similar to BANS, but instead of being a standalone site, it’s available as a Wordpress plugin.  You have to decide what direction you’re going to go with your affiliate marketing. I chose BANS because my plan is to find many niches, and set up sites for each. That way, even if the sites are making a few dollars a day, I can make a killing if I create hundreds of sites.

If, on the other hand, you want to pick one niche, and become the authority on that niche, setting up a Wordpress blog is probably a better option. That way you can easily create content relevant to your niche, and integrate your eBay store right into your site.  That’s where phpBay shines.

Check out both packages. There’s money waiting to be made:
